Housed in the former municipal slaughterhouses in the Saint Cyprien district, the museum gathers three structures in one place: the Museum of Modern Art, Centre for Contemporary Art and Fonds Régional d'Art Contemporain (FRAC), “regional contemporary art holdings”. Opened in 2000, Les Abattoirs houses works of 20th-century artists all through today. The collection has been gradually enriched and expanded by donations from private collections (notably Anthony and Célia Denney), as well as Centre Pompidou.
Since 2013, the museum offers a multidisciplinary programme, with concerts, talks, performances and projections, making Les Abattoirs a cultural spot you cannot miss during your stay in the Pink City.
Admire works by renowned artists such as Marcel Duchamp, Robert Mapplethorpe, Andy Warhol, André Jacquemin, Niki de Saint-Phalle and Miró. After your visit, take a stroll in the Raymond VI Garden that surrounds the museum.
