Vestiges of the past at the I Portici Hotel

Vestiges of the past at the I Portici Hotel

In the heart of Bologna, get ready to travel through Italian history, from Ancient Rome to the Renaissance.

Located in downtown Bologna, the I Portici Hotel houses the vestiges of a former theatre and a stunning antique underground wine cellar. At its creation, the theatre served as a café-concert named "Eden Kursaal" in the 19th and 20th centuries. Awarded a Michelin star in 2012, the restaurant serves refined Italian dishes in an original decor with frescoes from the Belle Époque. The secret underground wine cellar was part of the fortress of Galliera, also known as "Castle of the Popes". While the castle was destroyed several times, the cellar always remained intact. It is there that you can enjoy a romantic tête-à-tête with candlelit dinner in a subdued atmosphere. After your meal, you will go up to one of the 100 rooms decorated by Italian and international designers. Finally, what better way to end the end than by admiring the sunset from the terrace over the Parco della Montagnola?
